Stitchin and Rippin

I love getting tips from bloggers.  I had to put my Gypsy Girl quilt away before Christmas.  I didn't want to mix up my rows, so I wrote numbers on the butterflies on the end of my pins with a permanent marker.  I stuck one pin in the first block of each row.   I had each row done.  It's time to sew my rows together.

I did some ironing and pinning and then started to sew row 1 and row 2 together.   It seemed to be a "little thick" at first, but I proceeded on.  The Bernie sewed on through.  Oops--sorry little butterfly!

I've been working on "The Gypsy Girl" the last two days.  Yesterday there was some ripping going on.  Today was a better day.  I now have it all sewn together and have the 2 inch border on.   I'm trying to decide if I like what I picked for the outside border and how wide I want to make it.  I need to it "stew" over night. IF I could show you a picture, I might ask your opinion.  lol
Today is Feline Friday. I'm comforted to see Sarah couldn't download her pictures either. (I didn't want to be the only one blogger was mad at.)   I had a picture of Peanut to share.   Peanut has been much happier this week.  The days have been sunny and in the 20's.  She has spent enough time outside to burn off some energy, so she satisfied to curl up inside the rest of the time.
Have a good week-end!

Post 250

I didn't post much last year, but I've manage to reach the 250 mark today.  I'm proud that I've stuck with it at least.  The main reason I have is YOU!!  I have so enjoyed the friendships I've made and things I have learned from other quilters and bloggers.

I think this year that by having posted my goals and having you there to be accountable to (and celebrate with me) that I will work harder at them.

I have spent much less time on the internet today.  : )   I did a little organizing in the sewing room.  I decided I wanted to make something small and fun today.  I love Nancy Halverson's books and patterns.  I've had her book Count on It for quite sometime.  I made the January block.  I'm very happy with it other than the letter  "a"  should have been a different color, so it would show up more.  I had fun experimenting with different stitching options and used Steam a Seam 2.  I also just glued the little buttons on for now.

Have you been reading the posts for the Quilting Secrets Blog Hop?  I've really enjoyed the tips that the quilter's have shared.  You might too.

Happy New Year!

How quickly a year goes by!  It's hard to say 2013 and fathom how quickly 13 years have passed by.  I'm looking forward to a new year.  It always feels like a "clean" start.  Time to take stock of what's been going on in my life and what changes I'd like to make.  Change is so hard--I have such good intentions.

My goals are simple:  1.  Lose weight by eating healthy.
                                    2. Sew more.
                                     3. Spend less time online.

Feline Friday

It's snowing out.  What's a girl to do?  Just sit in the window and watch the flakes come down.
Peanut is an inside/outside cat.   When the weather is nice, it's mostly outside.

She really doesn't like snow days.  Just a little perturbed with this winter stuff.

There are more Feline Friday posts on Sarah's blog.

Christmas Win

Many thanks to Vicky, the LA quilter and her sweet dog, Penny for picking me to win the give away for 2 charm packs of Simplicity by 3 Sisters.  I love the soft colors and am thinking I see a girly quilt.  It's always fun to get fabric in the mail.  It makes my day every single time!!!  Thanks again, Vicky!! Quilting bloggers are wonderful people.

It is snowing today.  I'm just hanging out and watching it come down.  You may have noticed that I haven't blogged as much this year.  I hate to be a complainer.  I've been struggling with joint pain.    Yesterday I had an appointment with the orthopedic doctor.  Xrays show that I am bone on bone in my knees.  I got a steroid shot in my left knee.  I slept well last night and didn't need the walker to get up and going this morning.  I know this is just a delaying treatment, but I'm thankful for it at the moment.

I'd love to hear any knee replacement comments or advice from my followers.   I have lost some weight and been doing exercises.  I intend to keep up with that.  I guess 35 years of working on concrete floors has taken its tole.  I know being overweight hasn't helped either.  I really need to get serious about controlling my weight.  I suppose I thought I was indestructible--not really, just in denial.

I know DH misses his helper in the morning with chores.  It just hasn't been possible and I'm thankful that he understands.  My housekeeping has suffered too.  I'm hoping to get caught up the next few days.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to you all!  The fun has begun at our house.  DD 1 and friend are home for a few days.  We wrapped a few presents today and baked cut out sugar cookies.  DH joined in the frosting and decorating too.  We had a lot of fun.  Of course, we are missing DD 2 and her new husband, who were unable to make the trip home.

I bought myself a Christmas present on the Craftsy site.  They are having a BIG sale on classes.  I bought Leah Day's class.    She posted on facebook that you could get the class for $19.99 if you used her special link.   I'm such a sucker for a bargain.  I like the idea of being able to watch the videos any time and having access to them always.  I really want to work on my Free Motion skills and I hope this will motivate me to do it.

I also purchased the knitting socks class.  I've always wanted to learn to knit socks.  I ordered yarn too.  There are some wonderful classes on their site.  I'll see how I like this way of learning.

So 2013 will have some new things for me to look forward to.  I hope you all enjoy your holidays with family and friends.
